Volunteer Tutor Information

Make a difference in your community while learning about a new culture and gaining valuable experience!  We are looking for energetic and committed individuals to assist our students in preparing for the U.S. Naturalization test and in improving their English language skills.  You can volunteer as a tutor in class or outside of class. An in-class tutor assists the teacher in the classroom. The teacher provides direction. An "outside of class" tutor meets one-on-one with a student. These students are highly motivated and desire extra help. S/he may be nearing her/his interview date. Volunteer opportunities are available in Baltimore City, Montgomery County, and Prince Georges County (see class schedule).  An introductory orientation is required where you meet with our staff in order to learn about the citizenship process and our program. You will receive materials and resources to use. Citizenship staff is always available to provide guidance, support and to answer any questions you may have.
